Known warmly as “Dr. Bruce,” Dr. Anh Bruce Nguyen is a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery—a surgical specialty requiring years of intensive postgraduate training beyond the education required for general dentistry. His expertise is built on full-time, hospital-based medical, surgical, and anesthesia training completed after dental school.

After completing his undergraduate education at UCLA, Dr. Nguyen earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with multiple honors from the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed an intensive oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, receiving advanced training in dentoalveolar and implant surgery, facial trauma, pathology, anesthesia, and complex procedures involving the mouth, jaws, and face.

This extensive specialty training enables Dr. Nguyen to manage conditions ranging from routine tooth extractions, dental implant placement, and biopsies to complex maxillofacial procedures. He combines surgical precision and advanced technology with attentive, compassionate care. He takes time to explain every option and create an individualized treatment plan focused on safety, comfort, and long-term well-being.

His peer-reviewed research has appeared in respected publications, including Science Translational Medicine and Dental Clinics of North America, and he has presented his work at major national meetings.

Dr. Nguyen founded Montclair Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to provide sophisticated specialty care in a modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed environment. His philosophy is simple: every patient should receive the same honesty, meticulous preparation, and attention to detail that he would expect for his own family.

Beyond his private practice, Dr. Nguyen serves as the first oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, expanding access to specialized surgical care for diverse and underserved communities. He also volunteers with Nuoy International, collaborating with surgeons in Vietnam to expand access to advanced surgical technologies and techniques.

Dr. Nguyen leads a multidisciplinary startup team exploring how technology and artificial intelligence can support the next generation of surgeons. Outside of work, he enjoys painting, music, competitive tennis, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
